Language Arts
A literature based reading program with an introduction to chapter novels exposes students to various genre: poetry, biography, historical fiction and fiction. The writing process is incorporated into all aspects of the language arts program. In third grade, students focus on writing paragraphs which contain a topic sentence, details, and a concluding sentence. In fourth grade writing, activities include paragraphs, journals, creative writing, and summaries. In fifth grade, the writing process is used in developing descriptive paragraphs, personal narratives and persuasive writing. Students will learn different ways to organize and develop each of the paragraph types.

Mathematics
A combination of hands-on activities, cooperative groups, textbook exercises, and appropriate technology are utilized for instruction in fundamental addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Critical thinking skills are incorporated throughout the year to develop problem solving strategies. Metric and standard measurements, statistics and probability, fractions, geometry and adding and subtracting decimals are also studied.

Religion
The Church as community-builder is stressed in third grade. The focus in fourth grade is on a Christian moral life with loving service to others. In fifth grade, students study the seven sacraments and the gifts of faith, hope and love. In the Family Life portion of the curriculum, God's gifts of communication and sexuality are also presented in the fifth grade.

Other areas of study include Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Media, Physical Education, Spanish and Computer.
